Privacy policy — how the shopper's guide handles reader data

This privacy policy describes how the Wayfair Shopper's Guide portal collects, uses, stores and deletes reader data. The portal is an editorial venue; we do not sell products or share reader data with Wayfair or any third-party retailer.

Why trust this shopper's guide

Independent reader desk, no Wayfair affiliate income, designer-reviewed before publication.

I

Independent

No Wayfair affiliate links, no supplier placement fees, no partner-authored copy under our byline.

D

Designer-reviewed

Furniture, lighting and decor coverage passes licensed interior designers before publication.

C

Catalog-observed

Weekly catalog scrapes and roughly 800 reader inbox messages per week inform every page.

R

Revised in public

Visible last-updated date on every page. When facts change, we show the revision rather than hiding the edit.

Three data categories the portal handles

The portal keeps data narrow; most visitors generate none of it.

Newsletter subscriptions

Email addresses submitted voluntarily for the weekly newsletter.

Newsletter subscribers provide an email address. That address is stored in the newsletter service (an independent third-party email provider) and used exclusively to send the newsletter. Unsubscribe requests delete the address from our active list within one business day.

We do not sell, rent or share newsletter subscriber emails with any third party. Cross-retailer marketing and affiliate networks receive nothing from our subscriber list.

Subscribers can request a data export or full deletion by emailing readers@wayfair.co.com with a verified email address.

Analytics cookies

Aggregate traffic analytics without individual-user tracking.

The portal uses privacy-preserving analytics to count visitors, referrer sources and page views. No individual visitor is tracked across sessions. No browser fingerprinting. No behavioral profile is built per user.

Readers who prefer to opt out can use browser-level tracking protection. The portal does not block content for opt-out users.

Cookie consent is handled through a minimal banner on first visit, with a clear no-thanks option.

Reader inbox messages

Messages sent voluntarily to the reader desk are stored for editorial workflow.

Messages sent to readers@wayfair.co.com, pitches@wayfair.co.com and related editorial addresses are stored in the reader-inbox system for triage, response and monthly synthesis. Archived messages inform which category pages get updated next.

Individual messages are not published without explicit consent from the sender. Our inbox synthesis operates at the aggregate level only.

Senders can request deletion of their archived messages at any time. Requests process within one business day.

What we do not do

The portal operates under a deliberately narrow data-handling posture.

We do not sell user data. We do not run affiliate tracking on outbound links. We do not share reader email addresses with Wayfair or any third-party retailer. We do not build cross-session behavioral profiles. We do not run retargeting pixels. We do not operate a loyalty program that requires data collection. The portal is editorial in both revenue model and data posture.

Legal Notes

This privacy policy applies to the Wayfair Shopper's Guide editorial portal only. Wayfair Inc., the retailer, operates under its own privacy policy on its own storefront. Any data you share with Wayfair directly is governed by Wayfair's policy, not ours.

Your rights as a reader

Privacy legislation in several jurisdictions grants readers specific rights the portal honors.

California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act, European residents under the General Data Protection Regulation, and residents of other jurisdictions with comparable privacy frameworks have specific rights to data access, correction and deletion. The portal honors those rights regardless of jurisdiction because uniform treatment is cleaner than region-specific handling. To exercise any right, email readers@wayfair.co.com with a verified email address.

Changes to this privacy policy

Material changes are announced at the top of the policy with a last-updated date.

When we change data-handling practices materially, we update this page and post a brief notice at the top. Non-material corrections (typos, link updates) do not trigger a notice. The last-updated date in the footer reflects any edit.

Privacy policy — reader questions

Three common questions about data handling, unsubscribe and deletion.

Data handling & rights

Questions covering what the portal does with reader data and how to exercise privacy rights.

Does the Wayfair Shopper's Guide sell my data?

No. We do not sell, rent or share reader data with Wayfair, with third-party retailers, or with advertising networks. The portal operates on a reader-supported model that does not require data monetization.

How do I unsubscribe from the newsletter?

Use the unsubscribe link in the footer of any newsletter edition, or email readers@wayfair.co.com with an unsubscribe request. Processing takes one business day.

Can I request deletion of messages I sent to the reader desk?

Yes. Email readers@wayfair.co.com from the address that sent the messages and we will delete archived messages within one business day. We retain aggregate inbox synthesis that does not identify individual senders.
